Biblical Studies

Our Biblical Studies programs are designed to prepare students for in-depth studies of Sacred Scripture rooted in an ever-revealing hermeneutic that both informs and is informed by the Catholic Church.  Pursue the full Master of Arts (MA) track or the Certificate track program; each is tailored to suit different academic and professional goals.

MA Track

The MA track in Catholic Biblical Studies offers a specialized, comprehensive study of Sacred Scripture, along with the tools necessary. This track is ideal for students who seek to deepen their understanding of the Bible through a Catholic lens, with a focus on historical, theological, and exegetical methods. As part of this track, students are required to learn one ancient and one modern research language. Language skills are essential for engaging with biblical texts in their original languages, providing the foundation for rigorous academic research and theological reflection.

Geared Toward:

  • Students looking to pursue a career in biblical studies, theology, or ministry, particularly in the Catholic tradition.

  • Those intending to engage deeply with Sacred Scripture and its interpretation within the Catholic Church.

  • Individuals preparing for advanced research, teaching, or pastoral roles that require a deep knowledge of the Bible and its original languages.

Certificate Track

The Certificate track offers specialized courses that provide valuable skills and knowledge for the lifelong learner. Each certificate course carries half the credit of the courses in the MA track. This streamlined option is perfect for those seeking to enhance their expertise or credentials without committing to a full degree program.
