Four-Day Schedule

Third and Fourth Class offerings are geared toward students estimated to be in the middle elementary age range, typically ages, eight to ten. Students meet together in one classroom and work primarily in small groups arranged by individual literacy levels. Small group instruction allows students to receive the individual support they need to work at the level and pace that's right for them, with great emphasis on personal growth. Students both younger and older are welcome in this level when appropriate. Use the Contact form for questions about placement.

Arithmetic 3/4 works toward multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, more complex measurements and word problems, along with the understanding of volume and geometry. Students are encouraged to look for patterns and order in numbers and the world around them.

Life Science: Life & Humanity is a Life Science course that presents the scientific method, organisms and their environments, cell structure and function, photosynthesis, and other living organisms. Students practice what they learn with hands-on experiments and continue to develop their ability to observe, question, and gather data, while discussing and writing about their findings.

Literature 3/4 focuses on developing strong reading comprehension, spelling/phonics, writing skills, and understanding and using punctuation. Students learn cursive writing and continue to expand vocabulary as they are encouraged to analyze, summarize, and discuss texts, learning methods of literary analysis that will later be applied to more advanced literature, including Sacred Scripture.

Latin & English Grammar continues to teach students beginning Latin vocabulary and grammar alongside English vocabulary and grammar. No prior Latin experience is necessary. Speech and diction are exercised through recitation of simple prayers and memory verses while the importance of good penmanship habits are emphasized as students learn cursive writing. It is highly recommended that students taking this course also enroll in the corresponding Literature 3/4 course.

Religion: God Forms His People is a Religion and Bible History course that traces the history of God forming His people, starting with Abraham, through the prophets and centralized temple worship, to Pentecost, the destruction of the Second Temple, and the kingdom of God on earth.

Two-Day and Four-Day Schedules

Third and Fourth Class courses meet on-campus at the Saint Mary Magdalen Center at 511 Kearsarge Mountain Rd in Warner, New Hampshire. All courses have the option of a Monday/Wednesday or a Monday through Thursday schedule. New content is introduced during the Monday/Wednesday meetings. The expectation for students who choose the Monday/Wednesday option is that students work at home on Tuesday/Thursday for consistency and to complete weekly assignments. Students who enroll in the Monday through Thursday schedule use Tuesdays and Thursdays to work with guided instruction to complete their weekly assignments on campus with the guidance of the instructor. The four-day option is great for the primary educator who would like to be relatively hands-off with the instruction of the subject.

Required Materials

Estimated to be around $120 for full enrollment. The Books/Materials list is sent out to registered students in June.
